Emanuel Levinas is one of the most important French philosophers of the 20th century, famed for his emphasis on radical responsibility towards the other. Less known is that Levinas was also renowned for his lectures on Talmud. This class will look at his liberating way of studying the Talmudic text by opening it to infinite interpretations in the service of the Jewish ethical vision.
